THERAPY LOOKS LIKE…

My Approach

Trauma Informed

Understands that a comfortable and trusting relationship is essential for beginning the vulnerable journey of sharing impactful life experiences. Works with each person holistically, considering the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and social aspects of their life. Focuses on individual strengths with an emphasis on self-compassion, recognizing that trauma responses are natural reactions to distressing experiences. Provides tools, guidance, and psychoeducation to support the healing process.

Social Justice Lens

Validates clients’ experiences within the context of social inequalities. Emphasizes social awareness, empowerment, and collective healing to foster positive change for both the individual and society. Recognizes the impact of systemic oppression, discrimination, and inequities on mental health. Considers the intersection of social identities—such as race, gender, sexuality, disability, and class—and how they shape clients’ experiences and well-being. Acknowledges the importance of social support networks and the benefits of community and collective healing practices for those who share marginalized experiences.

Collaborative

Focuses on the client’s unique needs, goals, and preferences, respecting their autonomy and self-determination. The client is an active participant in their healing journey. Communication is open and transparent, aiming to empower the client by providing tools and skills to address therapy goals. The process is adaptable and flexible to meet the client’s changing needs as progress is made. Feedback and evaluation of the process are valued to ensure therapy remains effective and relevant. Therapy goals are established collaboratively and align with the client’s values and aspirations.
